According to Forbes, the advertising metrics firm figures that Tucker Carlson Tonight generates about 16 percent of Fox News' total ad revenue estimated at more than $1 billion. That's a HUGE chunk, and it's a reliable one (needed, in the way that airlines sell the first 50% of their seats almost at cost, just to make sure the plane is filled). Tucker is a reliable brand, and, as such, he has powers and privileges and access to leverage even his #2 competitor at the network doesn't have.

If Tucker was a MAGA poser they wouldn't have aired any of that. I guess you could say "false flag" or to get it out there in front of the next election so people will have forgotten about it, but I still don't think that jibes. You see the insane histrionic REEEEEing coming from the left? Watching the shrill bitching as their narrative is completely wrecked? How many normies watch Fox? Even if they forget J6 they won't forget that the legacy commie media has been lying to them for years.
It's not just about a news story. It's about completely wrecking a widely pushed narrative the left thought they had in the bag and totally nuking what little trust people have left in the media. The left knows that Tucker airing that footage further diminishes their stranglehold on "trust" and info. Legacy media trying to furiously backpedal and spin just makes them look worse.
Far as Fox "shutting down" Tucker, not going to happen. Like others have said, he brings too much ratings and ad revenue. They can try but Tucker has plenty of FU money and could easily strike out on his own with a podcast and bury Fox. Tucker goes, lots of eyeballs and ad dollars go with him.
