A president pro tempore or speaker pro tempore is a constitutionally recognized officer of a legislative body who presides over the chamber in the absence of the normal presiding officer.

Thank you for that chart. I meant 3rd in line, either way it was the Senate President Pro Tempore

The argument was made we needed to keep Orrin Hatch in office because he held that position for a while.
