I get that, but has it been such a steady, regular increase, year on year?

I would have though that the early 80's would have seen a massive jump due to the number of TV channels exploding etc. but I don't see that.

Likewise with the advent of mainstream internet. Sure, the increase goes a bit steeper from 2000, but it doesn't take a huge jump at any point which I would expect with the advent of a new medium and associated 'stars'.
