They do this to write history. You see all those "1950's oppressed housewife" things in old magazines being passed around on social media, and people believe it's true. They use that as a springboard to make it look like women were oppressed. When I look at why women weren't allowed to vote, I find a lot of it is men wanted to shield and protect women from dirty politics. Not that women were lesser, but because men were protecting them. Women were elevated out of the trash. My Grandmother worked in the '50's. She didn't give my Grandfather a drink or make sure the kids were quiet... he walked into chaos and had to get his own beer. They both struggled and didn't have a built in bar or wear their formal wear all the time. I know from my family that the 1950's housewife is a lie. Also ask Lucille Ball, the "beloved" Betty White, Audrey Hepburn, Elizabeth Taylor, Marilyn Monroe... ask them (if they were alive) if they were stuck in the house serving men or if they were able to make a living.
