Ok so to be fair youre playing a less popular game. That said the game is natively supported in Linux. Sometimes Linux native games aren't maintained, so in places like Steam you can also try the Windows version using Proton which allows Windows games to work in Linux.
Not knocking the game, I like CRPGs. Just noting this is an old, indie game that likely doesn't stay updated. I can find plenty of examples that have similar woes in Mac. Don't forget Mac just changed architecture again. There are many issues running legacy games on latest macs.
I'd need to know a little more. Bit since you own it on GOG I'd try using Heroic Launcher to install, manage and launch the game. It'll let you easily change settings and likely make it easier to launch and troubleshoot.
Good luck!
(The game is Din's Legacy......duh.)
I have wine on my sys; not sure if I tried a windoze version for the game but Proton sounds interesting.
I finally gave up looking for a file in mid-December. I might have had the right one but, since I am not a whiz on Linux and am an old fart and I'd pulled out enough hair at that point, I finally set it aside.
I had made some notes: what to do with this? libgl1-mesa-glx_22.0.1-1ubuntu2_amd64.deb
I think the file I needed was libgl1-mesa-glx_22.0.1-1
could not figure out just how to use this: libgl1-mesa-glx_22.0.1-1ubuntu2_amd64.deb I am not good with the terminal; I lack a lot of background experience and knowledge. There is so much going on, so much else to keep up with.
Then there's this: https://pkgs.org/download/libgl1-mesa-glx Didn't know how to make use of this.
Have not heard of "Heroic Launcher." I shall look it up tomorrow.
Thank you for replying.
Ahhh here we go. You helped a ton with your question. 9 times out if 10 you should use the OS repositories to install packages/software. AKA the linux version of app stores.
You are doing it the old school windows way. That is to say you're going out to the internet and manually downloading software/Deb packages. If you're unsure of what your doing that way will likely end up with a broken system.
Let's start here, do you have an Intel, amd or Nvidia card? Mesa are the open source drivers for 3d graphics. So I imagine you were working on that when you left off.
Nvidia. Yes.
How would I use the OS repositories to install this particular file? I did have the Linux version; probably will have do download it again from GOG.
