I just had a job offer rescinded in a sector heavily tied to tech in the bay area specifically because of the collapse and unknowns it brings in the area. Please pray for me that I land on my feet.
Oh no - that's awful news! So sorry that happened to you. I'm sure you spent a lot of time on your interviews and had everything riding on that new job. It would have sucked more to have started that job and then gotten laid off a week later or something though. Hope that another (more STABLE/solvent) company snatches you up quickly! I have an interview tomorrow that I am a little worried about. Not that I will do poorly, because I am a great candidate - it is with my last company's direct competition and that plays very heavily in my favor- but more because of the SVB fallout. Company started in SF with VC backing about 7 years ago. We'll see.
Talked to a friend of mine whose daughter is seven months pregnant. Both her and her spouse were working for firms that had ties to SVB for- payroll and they are unsure about their paychecks right now. Completely different industries - the daughter's firm is based out of Australia. Sigh...
