I would like to ask for prayers for my 39 year old daughter, mother of two (3 and 6), former social worker in hospice for over 13 years. Last October you prayed with me for her because she essentially had a breakdown and was put on family leave for 2 months...due to burnout and trauma from working in this high stress position for so long.
Long story short...on January 17th, in the process of trying to quit, start classes to enter a new profession...she started binge drinking to relieve the anxiety and stress. On a patient visit, after drinking she hit an elderly couple head on...she of couse ended up in jail, lost her job, and is now facing 4 felony counts and many misdemeanor counts.
The couple survived with some injury and are suing her and her employer...but that is to be expected. She is now in rehab for a month (has been there a week) and it is tough being away from the kids...she is having a rough time...the kids miss their mom...they don't understand where she went. The kids got sick so I came to help out...they are improving. Christina also got sick...this is hard on everyone...but necessary.
Anyway, please pray that her and her family are able to endure...our greatest desire is that she will not go to prison for the felonies...but that there is some plea deal and alternative punishment that would be equitable for all. We would prefer no trial...she appears to have a good lawyer.
So short term prayer...the seperation of rehab and long term prayer the legal situation concerning the accident and the civil suit...obviously I am heartbroken...she is such a good person who made a very serious and costly mistake...but I am trusting that God has everything under control and will meet our every need according to his riches in glory...I share the details so you can pray specifically...please put her on your long term prayer list...this is a process...thank you all in advance for your prayers.
Certainly. She will have a real mental struggle ahead too.
Apparently the coping was the major issue...total burnout...she actually didn't drink for many years...then used it to self-medicate...which never works...some professions just need to have more counseling support...yeah...sad all the way around...the mental/emotional is really the whole of it.
Some professions ought to be left after a short time. It doesn't matter how many people are telling you you are a saint for doing it. Even the saints get burned out. Now she has to face that beating herself up to help clients was destructive to herself and others, that's the burden I mean. But God can even use past mistakes to improve the future and keep that time from being wasted.
Absolutely...when she was off for 2 months they gave her THREE counseling sessions...can you believe it...
