We have had people in the world like this forever. They don't want to blend in and definitely, to me, want to call attention to themselves for some reason. So we start to say something about them (giving them the attention I think they want) and they tend to take offense to what we say. If they don't like it, they should conform. If not then don't regard our remarks as "hate speech." We are just pointing out what we see.
