Generations in the west have been taught that Russia is the epitome of evil and mush be stopped at all costs.

That's exactly why the "West" supported Apartheid South Africa against the ANC/Angola/Mozambique bush war...That's what I remember being told back when I Did my National Service in '80 as we all did...The Soviet Union and Cuba supported the ANC....The support that we received from the West stopped once the Berlin Wall fell and there was no more Soviet Union...Its a completely different story now....
