If they don't kill him while he's in custody or something then I suppose it's a good thing because he'll walk into the oval office because of how crazy this all is

They would kill him or would have killed him if it was at all possible. Arresting him is a sheltering move by the WHats. It's optics. He's getting arrested to untie attention and that is all.
