Carmakers offer customer convenience of remote start knowing it's a trade-off for easy car theft, the same way banks allow for identity theft instead of security. Both push the problem on to the consumer, blaming them instead of providing actual security. That makes car theft easy.

But failing to enforce the laws makes theft not just easy, but commonplace.
