To make things up, edit videos to change the message. That sort of thing. The recent NYT article claiming past and present CDC employees were ignored, then the NYT lists one trainee is a prime example. Anyone have an idea on how this can be stopped? Maybe there needs to be a disclaimer that states its largely conjecture and the opinion of the journalist or reporter and that its not bonafide fact.

Make new law: News media outlets that print false stories labeled, or advertised as 'news' need to retract the story, AND print a [true] correction story on their front page for 30 days. The damage needs to be undone.
Require other types of news media outlets (radio, TV, digital, etc.) to be subject to similar corrective methods based on their media type- Top of the hour broadcasts; web page banners; or similar corrective measures.
