Alcohol, cigarettes, and coffee are far cheaper. If you can find a deal on those little airplane bottles of liquor you will have it made. If you have a bunch of this stuff you will also have solid "customers" because people will really "need" their addictions.
If it was for me I would. I'm talking about known quantities of a product in demand - making my own would not have the same value. It's like silver rounds/coins. They have a known quantity of silver so they are perfect for barter. So do airport liquor bottles. I don't smoke, I drink but it is rare and I have a couple of the big bottles of scotch. I drink coffee, so I bought a fair amount of Folgers Instant and some half-mason jars and sealed a bunch for barter and then sealed 6 or so regular-sized mason jars for me. The sealing and oxygen absorbers should make that last a LONG time. I'm not going to bother sealing coffee beans or anything like that.

Well. You get the abv using a hydrometer. Firthee you can distill ethanol for fuel.
If you are worried about collapse tou should probably know how to ferment and distill. Probably helpful to learn about brown'd gas as well.
