With Huge Respect To Dave, What Does "X22" Mean?

If X refers to the X axis, then on a graph it would refer to the columns? The 22nd letter of the alphabet is "V", which is 5 in Roman Numerals.

I always thought it was a play on "catch 22"

As in, no matter what the DS does in the end they're screwed
