The first two are good examples bc they are basing the story in written history. But from Vikings the Queen of Kattegat a fictional city doesn’t bother me and the last photo is from a completely fictionalized show Based on the Golden Compass Book. Called His Dark Materials.
If it actually makes people feel better to see a brown person play acting white history I don’t care. I do question how CHanging truth to a lie could make anyone feel better and if white folks are sooo bad why would you want to put your image in their place in history?
I totally agree with your last sentence. What next, a black guy portraying a historic slave owner?
Oh wait there were some....
We should produce a movie of a historic black slave owner and cast a white guy for the role. Then get a high profile group to have it “cancelled” for “cultural appropriation.” Really mess with everyone’s heads.
More than “some”!
Truth....
Anthony Johnson from 1655 enters the chat.
Johnson had served his debt to the man that bought him from a slave trader and subsequently became very wealthy. He was the first to declare one of his servants a slave for life as was the African tradition. It was a black man that brought lifetime slavery to the English colonies for the first time.
