Suspended disbelief long enough to watch it. There are some problems with this. Someone involved in the rescue of a substantial number of children from a literal global underworld, is not going to complain about taxes and pandemic lockdowns when talking about humanity's freewill being an illusion. Judging from the change of rhythm and emotion in his speech throughout the interview, those at the things that have actually affected him (things that affect an overwhelming majority of normal people, but maybe especially people trying to make money) -- his voice did not have those changes for anything else, not tunnel rescues, not experiencing aliens, not experiencing supernatural phenomenon, not almost dying, not the ineffective response of his secret society to do the right thing, not when the interviewer called him out for prioritizing his privacy over the fate of humanity -- all of those things are discussed in a detached monotone. In character. Prepared. He divulges information that would be considered a risk to operational security but will not answer a lot of questions that wouldn't. I think what is actually happening with those questions is that the answers to those questions were not a part of the story he read (wrote). He doesn't want to make up details that are not in his script because too much fire from the hip is how a story gets out of control and contradicts itself, the interview becomes inconsistent enough for the actor to get caught lying.
That's my gut instinct on this. This interview also has a profit motive in a book being publicized here; "Rays of Light". He's up to date on the conspiracies and theories we are but instead of being where we are, he is amoral enough to see a dollar can be made off it, if he can author a new and unique content offering for the conspiracy/spiritualist/X-Files demographics and keep his privacy intact.
If you Watch part 2. He sounds a lot like someone who follows Q or at least agrees with most of it. This guy believes in a one world Government where the global government is something like the United States World wide. Constitutional republic but for the entire planet. He mentions he hates the current world order plans and he admits this would enslave humanity. But if the evil ones are stopped, that world order would be one of freeing humanity and prosperity. And that makes total sense. If you understand our founding fathers and their intent, they didn’t start the new world order in order to enslave humanity. But rather to free humanity.
