This is horrendous and a crime against humanity. I feel guilt for even using a smartphone to type this. I remember my dad telling us that we needed to be careful in shopping for TVs because some are made by using blood diamond type mining. How do you find products verified to not be part of this shit? I'm not looking to be a materialistic consumer here, but it seems like the only truly ethical way to live in the modern world is either painstakingly find this type of product or go out and live self sufficiently in the mountains with none of this stuff
The key words are "Made in America," not "Assembled in America."
That helps. I am new to some of this stuff so it's all a real eye opener. That right there was hiding in plain sight. Or that makes me super unobservant
