Turning to the community I trust the most here, with a question about video hosting. I have family in various parts of the world. I also have a young son. We have a lot of video footage of his various activities that family members want to see. I have the video files stored on a local drive and the ability to edit videos, I just need an online platform to share them. I was gonna go with YouTube as a private channel for family only via invite but I'd prefer to avoid the Google/YouTube machine for obvious reasons. Ideally a video platform where playlists can be created and everything is ad-free since the "channel" I'm hoping to create will be shared with a very non-techy audience (Baby boomer gen with extremely limited tech/computer savvy)
Any recommendations?
I know this is old school, but in this case it may be appropriate.
Could you just burn the videos to a DVD or set of DVDs and then mail out to those who are interested? I know a lot of PCs don't have optical drives anymore, but if the recipients have DVD players on their TVs, that might still work for them.
May actually be a little easier (although more time consuming) than a shared web space but it has the advantage of being a helluva lot more secure than anything on the web.
Thx fren. Unfortunately none of the recipients have DVD players anymore. But some can moderately operate a computer and if given a short & simple web address they can figure out how to access and hit the play button.
