Have you actually read the Olivet Discourse? Read Matthew 24:34. Jesus himself said that generation wouldn't pass until everything He stated in Matthew 24 had taken place. And to say the Book of Revelation is dealing with events some 2000 years on the future is pure hogwash. The first verse of the book states when the events John was describing would occur...and sorry my friend, it wasn't some 2000 years in the future...unless of course you believe our Lord is a liar.

To say that the evil one was the entity who caused Rome to sack Jerusalem is to call God a liar and to make up your own version of history to your liking. The reason Christianity spread the way it did was because God had ended to first Covenant (Judaism) with it's destruction as He would in Matthew 24. Anyone who knows history knows that Christianity always flourished most during persecution so to say that the new religion of Christianity would have won over Judaism had God not allowed the persecution and ended Judaism so abruptly is historically wrong.

Remember...God said in the Old Testament Book of Deuteronomy that if the Jews failed to keep His Covenant commands that He would judge them as He did Egypt. We read in Revelation what God says about Jerusalem in the days after Jesus was Crucified...Revelation 11:8, "And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified." God judged Israel, not satan...because they had become followers of satan. Why would satan demolish a society that had been fully given over to him? Makes not sense scripturally, historically or logically.

Please read the account of God's judgement on Jerusalem in Josephus...who was eyewitness to the entire thing. Everything Jesus said was going to happen, happened during the generation He said it would.
