The scientific method doesn't define what a scientist is. Any so-called scientist should be able very clearly lay out their evidence for a conclusion for all to see, scrutinize, and attempt to re-create. It is the evidence that should be able to speak, not any so-called scientist. If some one says, "trust the science" or "trust the scientists" but provides no evidence, then it's not science, they are deceiving you, and you have no reason to believe that what they are saying is in any way true.
The problem is in our society is that most people have been conditions to NOT know what science is. They have also been conditioned to think science is akin to magic which is understandable since magic can sometimes be something unusual and impressive that happens but for which you have no explanation if you don't understand how it is done. For example, a card trick. If you don't know how it happens, it can seem supernatural and wonderous. However, once you know how it's done, it becomes pretty clear that it is done through very ordinary means and it stops being impressive. This conditioning for people to be ignorant of science has resulted in much of society treating it as a religion, especially when they don't have any genuine faith in their lives which compels them to find a substitute, whether they realize it or not. The deep state is aware of this (which is why they hate Christianity) so they have infiltrated all the scientific institutions they can and placed their own people in control of them. And they have pushed a narrative around and about science, implying it to be able to solve all problems and answer all questions (which if you understand science, you know it cannot).
This whole discussion does tend to boil down to one thing. The more ignorant everyone is, the better it is for the deep state and any tyrant or tyrannical system that wants to rule over the populous. Many people have the impression that with so-called "progress", people are smarter than they have ever been. From what I have observed, and I would put money on it, people are actually dumber than they have ever been and are getting dumber. Common sense has gone completely out the window and I'm not even referring to believing the deep state (which is dumb since why would you believe an entity which constantly lies), I'm referring to how people behave and navigate their daily lives. Take traffic for example, in my deviant area, the driving IQ and skill of a large portion of drivers on the road is insanely low. Where I used to work, they had a large decorative stone (about 3feet in radius) on the grass near a curb (at least 3 feet from the curb) at a parking lot intersection. I saw at least 2 different cars get stuck on that rock. It wasn't a small rock and it wasn't even that near to the curb. One car was a Corolla (not an off roader, why was that person trying to drive over curbs) and the other a CRV (a fake utility vehicle, also not an off roader).
Equally, any person who can follow the scientific method and apply facts, logic and math correctly to create and test hypotheses can deliver a result that is sufficiently valid that it can and should be considered.
What a lot of people want to do now is negate anyone's ability to criticize anything by saying "Are you a Medical Doctor?" "Are you a lawyer?" "Are you a Scientist?"
The use of these credentials has become a barrier to participation in the governing of ourselves, and has become a shield for the Deep/Administrative State and their bootlickers.
"Source?!?!" /s :)
Credentials have become a bit meaningless these days. If anyone says, trust me, I am "this title", in most cases they either don't have the title or their title is meaningless because they don't know what they are talking about even if they have it. Anyone who knows what they are talking about does not need to invoke their title and won't. They can explain it to a person. The throwing around of titles is a shortcut to ending a conversation or argument that isn't going the right way for the person throwing around their title. The only scenario where a legitimate person may throw around a title would be if the person they are arguing with thinks they know the subject matter but doesn't, and the person being talked to is so dumb, there is no point in continuing the conversation as it is clear they won't understand anything you tell them. But even then, it's better to say "you clearly don't know what you're talking about and I'm not going to waste my time trying to explain it to you" then to arrogantly throw around a title since throwing ones title around is a really bad habit to get into to. For me, someone just throwing their title to win an argument without providing any supporting information is a clear red flag. Automatically makes me suspicious that they don't know what they are talking about.
I knew a guy who was doing a study for his Master's thesis. Put a lot of effort into it. Then, once he was done, his professor put another guy's name as the primary author on the study implying that this other guy had done most of the work. That guy had in fact done no work and almost certainly didn't know anything about the study material yet was given credit for it. And this was over 10 years ago, academia has become more corrupt since then. Not sure why the professor did it, but both the professor and the student who had done no work were Jewish. Ethnicity/religion may have had nothing to do with it, the professor may have just accepted a bribe. But I would speculate that maybe there were some family or political ties between them. The reason the guy told me and a bunch of people was because he worked really hard on that study and was proud of his work and to have his credit stolen like that really pissed him off.
Yes, and sorry to hear about your friend. I think it's quite common, and that's a serious problem.
