I just figured DeSantis was selected to split the vote on Trump so someone could pull off another switcheroo at the polls.

Multiple goals depending on how far they got with it. So successful but not successful enough to win so Trump makes him his VP, close enough for their purposes? Split the primary vote to weaken Trump? Or take it all the way and put their puppet in office?
