As a retired math teacher, I tutor now and get a lot of work. There's a family I work for who immigrated here, legally or illegally, I don't know. They homeschool their daughter and I stop by twice a week to help get her through high school math. They never shared with me what they do for income. Today, I came over at a scheduled time and both parents wearing the medical boots we have frequently seen of noted politicians and celebrities. When I inquired, they told odd stories of how they fractured their ankles in two separate incidents. I found the stories hard to believe. Hanging around this site and VOAT before that, I know that these boots have been used to hid ankle monitors.
Do you think I have a reason to be suspicious?
Could be. It was the way they told their stories that made me suspicious. Also, I thought a broken ankle would require a cast rather than a boot. Any medical professionals with opinions? How many believe the stories of the boot wearers we have seen in the media? How many thought that No Name needed the before "his passing"?
Last April I fractured my ankle, and I had to have reconstructive ankle surgery. If you break a bone in your ankle, or the doctor has to put screws in your ankle or anything like that. Yes, you will have a cast for six weeks. Minimum. Then after that you get the boot. The boots another six weeks. Then, after that… You have to wear extremely supportive shoes, and go to physical therapy.
The first six weeks that you have the cast, you cannot put any weight on your foot at all whatsoever. I had to use a walker to get around the house for six weeks. Or if I was out in public, which was rare, I used a knee scooter. Once I had the boot, I had to use a walking cane to help me Segway back into walking again.
However; I’m sure I am one of the few patients that followed my doctors orders precisely. But because I did, I can walk perfectly now. I have no problems with my feet or my ankle.
To be perfectly clear… I did have problems with my ankle before I broke it. I should’ve gone in and had it repaired long before it broke. So it worked out in the end. But… Broken ankle means a cast for six weeks. Non weight bearing! End Of!
I got a brand new boot at a Christian thrift store for five bucks. The kind that has a Lil pump in the front. It worked fantastically. And it was gray not black, so it was much nicer than the ugly black ones. But I’m done with all that now. I don’t need any of that stuff. I’m so grateful.
