Southern California ports shut Friday due to worker shortage, snarling cargo traffic

A dockworker shortage at the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach stretched into its second day Friday, threatening to snarl cargo traffic at the complex.

There is no labor shortage, the level 3 workers (all people allowed to move containers) called off in protest over union disputes.

I have several family members who are Longshoremen, including some who are part of this protest.
