(spoilers below)
One of the very few mass media things I watch is Picard - skipped the first two seasons but the third isn't bad. Let's just say I'm watching in a way that doesn't support CBS/Paramount.
Just watched ep 09. When the under-25 crowd got assimilated into the Borg, I couldn't help thinking it was an allusion to the woke mind virus.
Anyone else get that same vibe? The whole Borg subplot has always felt sorta Deep State to me, but maybe I'm reading too much into it.
Also the whole "everything in the fleet must be integrated and centrally controlled" plot line seems like it's reflective of where we're heading. Using the old ways or old tech (Enterprise-D) to get around the centralized control also struck a chord with me.
Maybe it's just art imitating life, but it's a little spooky.
A replicator would be more useful and impressive than a holodeck.
“It was considered a post scarcity society.”
But it really wasn’t. They were constantly struggling for scarce resources, such as dilithium crystals, starships, planets, project genesis, etc.
