The FairTax calls for a 23% total tax rate... which is too high but the concept is great. Stop taxing me at every stop... we are supposed to be taxed once, and it is supposed to be simple.
We are currently paying 28-30% each and it could be more due to the way our money is taxed multiple times. The Fairtax is to make everybody pay "their fair share" based on what they buy and nothing else. Only one tax, no more IRS, no more payroll taxes... I'm down.

23% is utterly berserk

I'm not down until the proposed tax rate is.
Also they necessarily have to repeal the [fraudulent] 16th amedment, or else politicians will do both the sales tax AND income tax.
Exactly thats whats holding it up. But the FairTax is the most anti government tax out there and the only way for me to start paying taxes again.
