Although not all of the story is true, the movie mentions some historical facts:
- The Maxwells (Ghislaine's family) are shady - Robert Maxwell embezzled his company's pension, and died mysteriously
- What it's like to live under communism - spying on citizens, snitching, corruption, unmotivated employees, bad customer service, factionalism in the Communist party, food shortages, illegal to make profit, restrictions on communicating with foreigners, difficulty in trading internationally, etc.
It's amazing how we finally (in a long time) have a mainstream movie that mentions these ugly truths.
What did she mention? Anything about the Cold War or the Maxwells?
Maxwells and corruption within communism.
She imagined that socialists don't do corruption because they are in it for the greater good. Capitalists do because they are greedy.
