We lived in a small, rural town in Cali until I retired and we left. There were tunnels all over the downtown area there, as well. They could be accessed from old buildings with trapdoors built into their storage areas. They dated back to when the Chinese came out here to help build the railroads. They built the tunnels to travel in town so they wouldn't be harassed by drunks and bullies, but they also aided in keeping illegal activity out of sight. Most of the locals knew nothing about them. They built them in many other areas in Cali, as well. In Antioch, they had been forbidden to travel in town at night, so they built them there. But they're really all over the valley from the time many came to build the railroads and later: https://bakersfieldnow.com/news/local/bakersfields-hundred-year-old-tunnels-still-spark-curiosity, https://www.mercurynews.com/2007/09/27/secret-tunnels-underneath-fresnos-chinatown-probed-by-archeologists/ I imagine anywhere they traveled and lived there might be the same. I think it was a pretty common practice. Later used by rum runners and traffickers of all kinds. We know they run under Washington, DC. It would be interesting to see if any are mapped out anywhere.
That’s really interesting fren… I have just been reading a thread about tunnels and the possibility that there is a network under Aintree (Liverpool) race course where the Grand National is held… Liverpool has a very old and well established china town and also a huge network of tunnels that cross cross the area… it’s also a lefty hellmouth so it wouldn’t surprise me if there is trafficking going on through there as it’s a major port. Got family living near Liverpool so know a lot from them
It was a shock to see how many were under Washington, DC, too, when I first learned of them. I think they're probably under many older historic cities, like Philadelphia. But it was also a surprise to learn they were in smaller rural towns, like the one we lived in. Agriculture was the primary business. My brother saw one of the entrances there, himself. A local pharmacist who had been there for years bought one of the older buildings downtown that still had the old trapdoor entrance. They are all over the San Francisco/Berkeley/Oakland area, as well. Up into Portland and Seattle. Men in the late 1700's-1800's were often "shanghaied" by dropping them down a trapdoor into a tunnel, where they were put on ships to serve as sailors--against their will. Looks like Liverpool was one of those infamous places, as well! https://www.amusingplanet.com/2018/04/shanghaiing-how-trickery-and-deception.html
If you ever find more info on them, please share it with us. They must still be using them. We have a shocking number of disappearances in our country. Even in the middle of our big cities, surrounded by people. People just seem to drop off the face of the earth. But I found the children disappearing from foster care in Washington DC to be especially disturbing. More children disappear from that city every year than the entire State of California where I was born and raised. And one investigator who traveled there to review the cases in DC, was shocked to find that about a third of them didn't even have a photo of the child in the police file! I am wondering now if these tunnels can be located, if people could put motion sensor cameras in them? They use them regularly up here in the forests of the PNW. Mostly by hunters or those wanting to keep an eye on their acreage.
I know in Victoria, BC, Canada, there is also an extensive underground tunnel network.
There is reportedly another one that spans from Nanaimo to Vancouver, connecting the Island to the Mainland.
The rumors here are exactly that, trafficking children and drugs.
Victoria BC is the Satanists capital of Canada, and there are freemasonry symbols on the old buildings downtown proper.
Helsinki is also full of Masonic, etc, symbols. https://www.iltalehti.fi/kotimaa/a/c0e046b9-0266-4d20-85c3-4c8d870b18ca

Even Wiki has a list of them here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_tunnels_in_the_United_States
A few are mentioned in the US here: https://www.groundworks.com/resources/u-s-cities-with-incredible-underground-tunnel-systems/ I just remembered an old horror movie about mutants in tunnels. I think it was called CHUD...LOL!
