Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment
-
Try keep things light. If you are bringing in deep stuff, try not to go overboard.
-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)
-
If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evoloving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
Upvoted for the phrase "faggy salad"🐸
Hope it goes well.
This boy hated spinach, as I grew up with a mother of British origins who boiled spinach into a disgusting mush. Looked bad, tasted worse.
Then I lived in NE Asia, discovered spinach in an altogether different way. I luuuurve spinach now. Have done so for years. Easy to prep, and delish.

I keep l-methyl folate on hand in capsule form for me and fam when the food sources aren't up to snuff in the diet.
One of my son's uses SAMe for the same. Really bumps up the detox system.
Hello fellow MTHFR mutant!
Me too, I dont eat horrible but I dont do the full on healthy. I would try your spinach tea 😉 Right now I feel like….Heck Im 54 I am not on any meds and do natural hormones wild yams etc. nothing else. I know so many at my age on statins, bp meds, anxiety meds etc.

I suggest "favorite Dr Demento song" for a future Q of the day.
Here's mine if I'm not on that day. "The Cockroach That Ate Cincinnati" https://youtu.be/NtEpqlrwX5c
Nice! Been a long time. But I'm sure I heard that on Dr. Demento back in the day. I think I even had it on a mixtape.
Sounds ... wonderful, in a smiley kitchen infomercial kind of way. I'm glad you like it. Why cook the spinach first? Why not just blend it all and then nuke it later?
(Do you juice? The masticating juicers are easier to clean, and supposedly get more juice with less bother.)
Blanching spinach for about 40-50 seconds helps remove any bitterness....
Blanching it helps enhance its nutritional value.

I’ve heard this before. Probably Geoffrey Zakarian. If you cook it slightly, wilt it basically in the pan, you’re doing yourself a favor. So I think you are on to something.
I can’t drink smoothies and stuff like that, especially if it’s green. But I’m impressed with your tea.
This isnt anything to do with juice but if you like spinach its delicious and so simple. Me and my son are addicted to this https://beautyandthebeets.com/spinach-egg-feta-toast/
I just meant pulverize it all in the blender and microwave. Cooking the spinach seems like an extra step. But ... whatever works. A masticating juicer is a lot easier to clean. The regular juicers with the spinning filter are too much hassle.
I have a question my step dad is getting ready idk when, ok. To go through radiation. Is keto a good and healthy diet for that? We do grow our own garden. Well.. we have started ours for the season. But no spinach lol. But, tomatoes, squash, peppers and oh shoot. For right now. As the weather in GA is crazy. What are your suggestions? If any?
