Leather helmets used to be custom fitted to your head. They were lightweight compared to leather helmets now with all the ridiculous suspension and impact parts stuffed in them mandated by OSHA. Way too heavy and cumbersome now.

They’re mostly high temp plastic now but they still melt on occasion.
