From the first post, I thought the structure itself had collapsed. This just looks like the drive gave way.. as to why???? I'm not sure.

There was a time when I could have told you the make, model and year of every car in a photo like that. But now they're all basically indistinguishable to me. Black, white, silver, same shape, same boring style. Sometimes I think communism won, at least where design (or lack of it) is concerned.
That said, if any of the dozen or so sane NewYawkers left in that city were involved, I pray for their safety.
Deferred maintenance has consequences. The unions and public sector have been kicking this can for three, maybe four decades. Expect to see more of these unexpected collapses.
