Society had a wrong idea in the late sixties that mental facilities should be closed. We have more than enough evidence, in 50+ years, that this did not solve mental health problems. We increased the damage done to vulnerable people, as well as, created dangerous messes in cities across this country. Surely, we can do better than this and finally someone is willing to address it!
I think the problem may require a big solution. Since the Left is so enamored with centralization, I suggest one big island mental institution would make the most sense. Preferably one already filled with mentally ill to lower transportation costs.

Agree. Part of the plan needs to be mental institutions were the mentally ill can live.

Yes, institutions will help, but it must be a multi-pronged solution.
