I live in Northern Europe, and has never heard of Beltane.
Just googled it, and it looks to be a Keltic tradition.
Looks like it’s a big thing among Wicca as well, so nothing good I suppose.
We burn fires here in Sweden the last of April, Valborg, in memory of Saint Walpurgis. There is a myth that witches flew to Blocksberg (Brocken) this night, so maybe even in northern mythology this night has some evil undertones.
It’s interesting how Christianity has taken old pagan traditions and made them go from celebrating something dark, to something light.
My town is celebrating this in a big way, we are encouraged to wear green clothes and horns on our heads, wear green body paint and generally behave as if its quite normal to do this. "it doesn't really matter, its only in fun"
The Green Man and Herne the Hunter, symbols of the new religion of the worship of nature and self.
Ahh, The Green Man. Just saw pictures of Charles' Coronation invitations (which BTW I think are really pretty), and featured fairly prominently is The Green Man.

From dark to light one may say ;-)
Yes. I know a lot of Celtic people who celebrate it as Christians.
Sveriges landskap skiljs åt dramatiskt när det kommer till en del punkter är jag rädd.
