Matthew 17:21 Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.
I don't know what version of the Bible you have but I have a KJV. It is also online if you look it up. You may have bought a misprinted Bible. I would suggest that you may want to go get a new one at a Bible/Christian Bookstore. You must have the English Standard Version as it also skips that verse. I hadn't noticed it before as my husband just pulled out my Bible version of ESV. That was the first Bible I read through. I am now almost finished with the KJV. Then I will move to another version of the Bible.
Good luck on your endeavors as once you read God's word all the way through , then you may want to try different versions as I have. God bless and hope this helps.
P.S. I didn't read all your post, but I am also from the Cherokee tribe. However a lot of my family did have to travel down the Trail of Tears as I live along that route. Part Irish too so I call myself a Cherish from both sides. Haha. I haven't read the Scofield Study Bible but I do suggest you find one that is understandable to you and read that first. And it doesn't hurt to finish that one too. It will give you great incite to God's word.
In a quick check of a few versions, verses 20 and 21 are combined, as Matthew 17:20-21. Maybe because Jesus switches subject. The KJV leaves out 21.
St. Matthew 17:20 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.
Matthew 17:21 Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.

I think the italicized part should have been 21.
