I generally like him but IIRC didn't pedo Hunter write Tuck's kid a letter of recommendation for college?

Yes, but as I outline in a different post, that is not necessarily a reflection on him.

He was in high society with a lot of friends and connections, but that doesn't mean he knew about anything nefarious.

The only aspect of that that concerns me was his unwillingness to talk about Hunter's laptop on that basis.

I don't tend to do guilt by association that much.
