The term "Happy Pills" or "Anti-depressants" is a misnomer. They don't make you happier, they don't cure or even meaningfully treat your depression. They flatten the entirety of your emotional scale. They have some short term value in helping one deal with traumatic events so you can calm down enough to rationalize and cope or learn to cope, but long term they just make everything grey, flat, and unenjoyable. The highs aren't as high, and the lows aren't as low, apathy is easy and motivation is hard.
