Hi has an entirely different and shamanistic way of looking at the world and especially at perceiving and learning, he sees us as interacting with a sentient universe which provides guidance and opportunity to us in our role as actuators in the purpose of defining a novel future which the universe could not have otherwise "imagined". The whole thing is a kind of simulation in search of novel conditions.
He believes that humans have a certain amount of perception when to comes to future events and correct data mining of many human interactions can show what those events might be.
It's very interesting and helps exercise the mind in new directions.
