I respectfully disagree. The country is not disgusting, but there are individuals in power who are. These people do not embody 'American' ideals.

You can still 'stand and nearly cry at the anthem' if you focus on what this county is supposed to be.

There will always be individuals that sneak into power and create scandal (and I agree that it is has been an incredible amount).

But what does the proper understanding of the word 'American' mean?

That is what makes us proud. That is what we fight for.
