It’s easy to say “he should’ve done this, he should’ve done that, or I would’ve done this” when watching things like this… but as someone who IS law enforcement (prison SWAT) with decades of experience in combat sports, once you apply any choke hold and the person goes “out”, you NEED to release it. Those 30 seconds or so of them waking up and getting their bearings straight is enough time for you to immobilize and control them in a safe manner. Sadly, because of him not releasing the hold and because this happened in NEW YORK, he’s fucked.. AND unfortunately this will be another example why the “choke hold” is illegal for law enforcement use. Meanwhile anyone who trains, knows choking someone out is one of the safest/efficient ways of dealing with someone. I can’t count how many times I’ve seen people go out, wake up, and start cracking up in disbelief that they went out.
