The Green Man, a character from traditional folk culture, has captured the imaginations of many in the modern world. Books, articles, and websites on the Green Man abound, each of them looking at the figure from its own perspective. Those who have commented on or employed the image of the Green Man range from historians to neopagan worshippers, from festival organizers to novelists, and from folklorists to participants in Renaissance fairs.
Hey thanks. I heard about the association but did not think anything of it. There's a plaque in Portland Oregon dedicating to Green Man (environmental movements). How interesting.
Wiccan/ pagans worship "nature", is it a coincidence that all the environmental bullshit is called "going green", "the green new deal"? Even the jolly green giant is in on the scam.
No I have not, but will definitely watch. Was just telling someone else there's a plaque in Portland Oregon dedicating to Green Man (environmental movements). How interesting.
I wasn't big on Jethro Tull, but I really liked Songs From the Wood, had a medieval feel to it. Every song was good, not one dud on the whole album. I think Jack in the Green was inspired by the Green Man.
According to English folklore (and this song), Jack is responsible for returning life to the forrest after the winter.
The Green Man is primarily interpreted as a symbol of rebirth, representing the cycle of new growth that occurs every spring.

I used to fall head over heel for that movement until I see differently. Hard to wake on that one.
Have you seen Jack-in-the-Green, With his long tail hanging down.
