I wonder this often. In the same way the urban myth that used to go around “the world’s first 200 year old has already been born” could never apply to the little people. The gerontological implication is that we already have the means to keep everyone alive long and healthy but we are at best guinea pigs for the technologies that will allegedly prolong the lifespans of wealthy elites. Maybe it’s simpler than that as you say: every human born has the potential to live long, healthy lives if they were not being poisoned from birth.
