The ultimate goal is to push the middle class into poverty so we have to rely on the state's handouts to survive. They want taxes, fees, utility costs, etc to be so high that we lose our ability to afford our own homes and have to move into subsidized housing controlled by the state.

I haven't checked what the number is lately, but in 2017, poverty level in the Bay Area (around San Francisco) was $120,000. In most of the country, you live like a king with $120,000 a year. But in San Fran, it's literally poverty.
