Now that Sprite has HFCS as its first ingredient* and the Campbell's Soup has started adding soy lecithin. The saltines are the only ones that aren't changed. :/
ETA: Correction. HFCS is the second ingredient in Sprite. After water, before flavor.
Uh…there’s no high fructose corn syrup in sprite. First ingredient is water
Sprite has HFCS, always has. You're thinking of Sierra Mist.. which was ruined yet again to "Starry"
Starry ranges from "okay" to "total shit" depending on the batch for me. It doesn't scratch the same itch, for sure.
Critiquing "always has", because high fructose corn syrup hit the market in 1967 (though it wasn't until the 70s that it hit the beverage market), whereas Sprite hit in 1961.
Sprite originally used sugar to the best of my research, which while still not ideal, it's leagues better than that garbage.
Which also contains more fructose than advertised now, to boot.
What ingredients list are you reading that has HFCS listed as first?
Directly from the website: Water, High Fructose Corn Syrup, Citric Acid, Natural flavors, sodium citrate, sodium benzoate (to protect flavor).
Yes, water is the first ingredient, and yes, HFCS comes second.
Ah, I’m looking at the UK ingredients
Fair enough. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the UK is stricter about ingredients than the US from what I understand. The FDA is a malevolent force out to keep us fat and sick.
