Interesting. On a side note: iirc, Ben Franklin also suggested that the national emblematic bird should be the wild turkey instead of the bald eagle.

He had idea.... This was before there was ever a Thanksgiving having a Turkey on every table though. It's still better than Mexico having the crow as it's national symbol.
