reminder that "democracy" does in fact share a root with "demon".

yeah I know it means 'people' in Greek. but where did that word come from?

trace both words back and you'll find "deh", meaning 'to divide' in proto-indo-european.

so really, the greek origin of 'democracy' referred to a division of people, like how we use the word 'demographic'.
