Porn. If you think about it for a minute, porn monetized the internet.
Back when I was doing penetration testing (no puns here) I was at a conference and a porn site admin came up to me and started talking. He wanted us to do a pen test on his networks because of course he was making huge amounts of money and wanted to keep it (this was in the very early days of the Internet when stuff like Amazon was not a thing).
I got his card and told him I'd talk to my manager and get back to him. Nobody at my (very large very well known) networking company would allow us to do any sort of work for this guy. He was evil because he was a purveyor of porn. Never mind that he was one of the very few people at the time actually making money on the Internet and deserved security for his legitimate, legal business.
That always stuck with me. Good thing my company was not a legal firm or they would never represent anyone.
