CHris Plante worked for CNN for 10 years. If anyone watches or listens to him there no debate on where he stands on the issues. And Trump was once Democrat.

Democrats created the KKK and slavery in the South. The KKK had a relationship with the Nazi leadership.The "modern" Southern Democrats were relatively normal. My wife was a Dem when I met her. People change. Ideologies don't.
