Not sure what you mean. Do you think that the intelligence a computer displays is real intelligence? Or is, it not real.... as in.... artificial. Can you clarify your stance. What exactly do you mean by that? Like, you could possible mean that there is secretly a person behind chat gpt or you could mean that it's not artificial. Or you could mean that it's all smoke and mirrors, like there really is no Ai and somehow we are being tricked into think there is. Or do you mean there is no sentient machines yet? Or do you mean there will never be a sentient machine?
All of the above. Humans are not smart enough to create AI. The idea of AI is real, the claimants of "AI" in 2023 are liars. The "AI" of today are just left leaning computer programs.
As a machine learning data developer, I disagree... a machine learning ai to recognize the volume of detergent left in a soap bottle, both exists, and has no reason to be left leaning... you seem to have very limited experience with ai. Looking at other comments You also seem to be mixing the ideas of AI, GAI, and Sentience. Here's some help for you:
Ai: artificial intelligence, is usually a specific task that a machine is trained to do, which normally would take human level intelligence to complete.
GAI: general artificial intelligence, is more broad. Like, a computer learns to do a large amount Of tasks making it appear to have a more generalized intelligence.
Sentience: refers to the capacity to have subjective experiences, sensations, or feelings. Sentient beings are conscious and aware of their own existence and the world around them. While AI and GAI focus on intelligence and cognitive abilities, sentience refers more to the aspect of consciousness and subjective experience.
Your profession can reword whatever you want, but I am a computer programmer as well, and everything you are doing is just computer programs that can comb data and regurgitate it in certain forms, all you are working with are computer programs, they do not think for themselves, which is not the true meaning of the term "Artificial Intelligence". The true meaning of the term "Artificial Intelligence" is all of what you said combined into a thinking machine that can make decisions for itself separate from human interaction.
If you want to say artificial intelligence is just "a specific task that a machine is trained to do, which normally would take human level intelligence to complete", would you say Windows is artificial intelligence? What about a cotton gin? OK BRAD. But you are just dumbing down a concept for dumb people, and don't understand that you are using the redefined version of the word, and not speaking about the same thing the intelligent people are, because you fell for it. I am guessing you are on the lower level at your job? Entry level or one step higher?
humans are also an example of a complex machine. until you can define exactly how our own intelligence works, its not easy to assert it couldn't be replicated.
well I think anything artificed and intelligent fits the description, but yeah.
what i'm saying is its very difficult to prove the human mind can't be replicated by a machine. because again, even as natural biological beings, we are also very complex machines.
you can't rule out AI until you can explain this fully.
I wouldn't suggest that an omnipotent creator couldn't grant a soul to anything it felt like. technology is still advancing very quickly, in directions most of us have very little grasp of.
The term "AI" means "Artificial Intelligence". The true meaning of that is non organic sentient intelligence meaning it thinks like a human, has a conscience, and can learn and make decisions for itself (the dictionary of 2023 no longer lists it as so). Therefore humans can't be AI, but I agree with your mindset. I think God made us like everything else living in this universe as organic beings, humans happen to have a soul and know right from wrong and can make decisions, but naturally they live under the laws of nature which can be considered a form of machine.
why do you keep saying "humans can't be artificial intelligence"? that doesn't seem like a point tgat needs clarifying, since humans aren't artificial. your post is about the existence of AI. I have not yet seen a reason to assume that AI cannot exist.
again, until we fully understand the soul, we won't be able to say who does or does not have one.
You said "what i'm saying is its very difficult to prove the human mind can't be replicated by a machine. because again, even as natural biological beings, we are also very complex machines."
It is impossible to prove the human mind can't be replicated by a machine because it can't be done. You have too much faith in humanity and its abilities. Especially today, maybe 50 years ago before everything was fake.
And I didn't say AI cannot exist, I said it is a myth. Which means anytime you hear someone talking about AI today they are not talking about actual artificial intelligence. Your grey definition of it proves my point.

No, windows would not be, it was not created with a neural network and is not running based on a learned algorithm.
Your definition of AI includes Windows, it didn't mention a learned algorithm or a neural network. It seems like you haven't thought this through.
Our semantic argument doesn't prove Ai doesn't exist.
You can't even define AI, let alone know if it exists or not.
humans are also an example of a complex machine. until you can define exactly how our own intelligence works, its not easy to assert it couldn't be replicated.
Fully organic material with no robotics cannot be AI. AI is a machine that thinks for itself.

Organic is the difference though. Also we have souls.
what difference does organic make, exactly?
and how exactly does soul work?
