The Senate, both parties, need to know the House won't pass anything. The real problem is McCarthy and the rinos cave on everything rather than using what leverage they have.
McCarthy has no guts and they would cave anyway because they're all rino's.
Not rinos. https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2023/05/here-are-35-republicans-who-stand-we-people/ They will be voting on this probably this evening. I don't know if these guys can sway enough to their side to block it from passing. Because McCarthy can count on a combination of Democrats and his rinos to push it through. Everyone should be calling or emailing their rep TODAY and urging them to vote against the so-called deal.
I emailed my rep last night. I told him that if it didn't go the way our side wanted it with the original bill, then McCarthy should VACATE the seat with votes of No Confidence.
Great! I told my guy this was the death knell for McCarthy as far as I'm concerned. He has kept none of the promises the Freedom Caucus (my guy is a member) said would trigger his speakership being vacated. I also asked him, again, to stop giving Biden a bottomless pit of Ukraine money to squander.
You're missing my point, which is that it's no excuse to do nothing because the Senate won't pass it. The Senate isn't going to make any effort when the House makes none. They have a huge leverage in the debt limit and McCarthy traded it away for peanuts. Even if the Senate votes it down, it would go nowhere until they have a real deal, not a fake McCarthy one.
And, no, they aren't all rinos. Unfortunately, the House conservatives may not have the numbers to do anything about this because McCarthy can depend on Democrats to give him enough votes. Plus he has his reliable rinos to get to 218.
It's too easy to lump them all together and say they're uniparty but it's never been that simple. The ones who are are in the minority and are canny about when and where they fight their battles. Calling them all uniparty tosses away any chance to find those who will fight your battles.
The Senate Republicans are in the minority and it's a matter of vote numbers not guts. Plus they have a minority leader who is really on the dems side. All he cares about is status quo for himself.
