Love you catsfive but this isn't true.
Interest spending is roughly $500b. Our spending is ridiculous and out of control though.
KEK. PW stickied this. I like it. Psst. I deliberately made the meme this way. It's set in the future. "The best way to drive discussion on the internet is to deliberately post something that is not true." Hence why it drove so much discussion.
Currently something like 17% of all tax revenues go to service the debt. That's literally like an extra 17% tax on all americans. The comments are" muh stupid boomer meme" and then smart people actually discussing this fact. Which is the point of the meme. To drive discussion.
Memers occasionally have to fall on their swords to call attention to the underlying truth in the meme. That's what I did.
I looked at various countries national debt from a link posted here. https://www.usdebtclock.org/world-debt-clock.html
Very interesting, China is in second place at 14.45 T, Japan in 3rd at 13.45 T.
Public Debt to GDP puts USA at 95,8%, Japan is @ 299%, several countries in Europe over 100%
GDP has America far outpacing China (TY Trump) 26.4T to 17.68T
I honestly wondered if that was the case but I do also like when it's a truth firehose around here.
Makes it hard for the lurkers to dismiss as much as I like the memeing.
