See also Trump's spontaneous visit to Arlington. As President he seem uniquely able to understand the consequences of the Presidency on the population. His "man of the people" persona is not a costume that he puts on and takes off.

He did not have the luxury of ignoring the situation until it blew over. All the portals of hell were opened to let the gales of lies and fear sweep over the world.
